MEDIA HYPOCRISTY

2/22/13

There are 3 interesting data points on media double standards. Just lately was the trail of Nkosi Thandiwe, who shot three women in Georgia, as he said he was trying to spread the message of making white people mend their ways for colonialism. He developed his racialist, ant colonial beliefs white studying anthropology at the U of W. Georgia. Another example is Floyd Corkins II pleaded guilty to 3 felonies relating to his shooting of a security guard at the Family Research Center in DC. He told the court he got FRC”S address from a map of “hate groups” on southern poverty law centers (SPLC) website and that he planned to kill as many people as possible and smother chick-fil-A sandwiches in their faces as a statement about the two organizations opposition to gay marriage. Third, a former LAPD cop killed 3 people who left behind a lengthy manifesto supporting gun control efforts, as well as heaping praise on the Obama’s, Biden’s, Hillary and a host of liberal and mainstream media figures with special attention paid to CNN’s Piers Morgan.
There’s a saying in journalism that three is a trend.
Where is the media hand wringing over how left-wing ideology incites violence? We would be drowning in televised indignation had these 3 killers displayed even a hint of right-of-center views!
As in the cases of Gabby Giffords shooter Jared Loughner was obviously a right wing fanatic—never mind that his incomprehensible writing invoked Marx, there was zero evidence that he had even seen much less been inspired by Palin and her map.
Unlike in the Corkins case where he actually told the court that he selected his target form the SPLC “hate” map.
The media remain committed to the notion that only conservative rhetoric droves political violence. Michelle Malkin recently compiled an appalling eight examples since 2009 in which politicians and media personalities rushed to blame the tea [arty or conservative talk radio for violent acts despite a total absence of evidence. Then add in Bloomberg’s irresponsible Tea Party speculation about the foiled 2010 Times Square bomd plot that turned out to be Islamic terrorism. Dems political offices were bombed and the culprits turned out to be disgruntle progressive activists.
So you decide whether the media is fair in its reporting.
